Generating the BOM Analysis Report

The BOM Analysis Report generates a detailed view of the parts (including raw material parts, materials, and substances in selected BOMs including quantity and weight information.

The report analyzes the selected equivalent configuration of enterprise parts, meaning that if an enterprise part has a selected equivalent MEP it analyzes the structure of the MEP to find materials that exceed a threshold. If an enterprise part does not have a selected equivalent MEP, then the report analyzes the enterprise part structure, which are the enterprise parts and materials directly associated with the enterprise part.

The output of this report is a table of the parts in the BOM organized in a hierarchy. Depending on the report options, materials and substances are also included in the report.

The BOM Analysis Report can be generated for one or more enterprise parts.

Required access roles:

  • Baseline: Author, Leader
  • App-specific: Compliance Engineer, Senior Compliance Engineer

Use the Compliance menu to access this report. You can find this menu on the toolbar of any of these pages:

  • Properties page for a part
  • Compliance View page for a part
  • Equivalents category for a part
  • Compliance Portfolio app category for Materials Compliance Management
  • Bill Of Materials for the part

  1. Click Compliance > Reports > BOM Analysis.
  2. Select options for generating the report.

    Field NameDescription
    Report Data OptionSelect what type of data to include in the report:

    PartThe report will contain the details of only the selected parts and their subparts.
    Part and MaterialThe report will contain the details of the parts and their materials.
    Part, Material and SubstanceThe report will contain the details of the parts, along with their materials and the substances comprising the materials.

    Customer ProgramChoose a Customer Program from the list.
    Report levelSelect the Report Level to specify the levels of the BOM to be reported:

    AllThe complete part hierarchy is expanded to include all its subparts.
    Top and LeafOnly the selected part and its subparts (parts in the leaf position) are included in the report.

    Show Sub-Tier PartsSelect the check box if you want to include sub-tier parts in the report.

  3. Click Submit.
  4. In the Report Output section, select an Output Format. Click View for HTML output, or click Save for CSV, Excel, or PDF output.

    Your setup might not support all output formats.
