Defining Virtual Contact Interactions

You can define a Virtual Contact feature that automatically creates a meshed part and contact interaction.

  1. From the Abstractions section of the action bar, select Virtual Contact .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. Select a geometry support.

    You can select geometry, mesh face groups, mesh node groups, or publications to define the surfaces.

  4. Select a Reference point to be used to control the motion of the surface.

    You can select geometry, a single node mesh group, or a publication.

    You can also select the Center of Mass option to create a point at the center of mass of the surface.

  5. Optional: Enter an initial clearance between the model and the contact virtual part.
  6. Optional: For shell parts, click Change Surface Side to change the contact direction of the surface.

    The contact side of the surface is rendered with a woven pattern; the noncontact side is rendered smooth.

  7. Click OK
