Inserting a Phantom Part in an MBOM

The Insert Phantom command can be used to insert a new phantom part in an MBOM structure below the selected part.

Before you begin: Access a part Bill of Materials page in MBOM Plant-Specific edit mode (Current & Pending view). See Editing Part Bill of Materials - MBOM Plant-Specific.
  1. Click to open the Refinements panel to select filter options.
    1. Set the View value to Current & Pending.
    2. Click to select an MCO. The search results include all MCOs available in the current BOM context. Select an MCO and click Submit.
    3. Click Filter.
  2. Select a manufacturing part to which the phantom part will be added.
  3. From the page Actions menu or toolbar, click Insert Phantom.

Enter details using either in-cell editing or Mass Update. See Editing Part Bill of Materials - MBOM Plant-Specific.

  4. Enter the details required in the Enter Phantom part page opened in the Slide-In right side, then click Save.

When the phantom part is inserted in the MBOM, the following events occur:

  • A new phantom part is created.
  • Selected parts are added under the new phantom part in the MBOM assembly.
  • This phantom part is added into the assembly’s MBOM.
  • If their MBOM connections are not yet released, the selected parts are removed from the assembly’s MBOM and added under the phantom part. Otherwise, the connections are effected out.
