Moving Parts to Another MCO

Manufacturing Engineers can move one or more part revisions from an MCO in the Create or Review state to a new or existing MCO. This offers more flexibility in setting different start dates for different changes affected by an MCO.

Before you begin: Access the Affected Part Revisions page of an MCO. See Affected Part Revisions.
  1. Click the check box to the left of the part to be moved.
  2. From the page Actions menu or toolbar, click Move Parts.

    The following message is displayed:

Do you want to move the selected parts to another MCO?

Click ‘Ok’ to open the Move Parts page, where you are given a choice either to create a new MCO or select an existing MCO.

  3. Select either option.

    Case 1:

    1. Select the option ‘Create New MCO.’
    2. Click Done.

The old MCO is cloned to create a new MCO with same start date and current lifecycle state. Selected part revisions and their MBOM connections that are affected by the old MCO are disconnected from the old MCO and connected to the new MCO.

    Case 2:

    1. Select the option ‘Select From Existing MCO.’
    2. Click next to this text field.

The MCO search page opens. Search for and select an MCO from the MCO search results page. The box is populated with the selected MCO name.

    3. Click Done.

Selected part revisions and their MBOM connections that are affected by the old MCO are disconnected from the old MCO and connected to the selected MCO. A start date check is performed on the selected MCO after the new connections are made. If the check fails, you are informed about the failure and the Move Parts action is rolled back completely.
