Affected Part Revisions

You can view a list of new part revisions that are effected in by an MCO.

When an MCO is in the Create state, you can add or remove a part revision from an MCO, move the part revision from one MCO to another, or edit the part. Only manufacturing parts can be added to the MCO as affected part revisions.

For Make/Buy attribute changes, affected parts can be added to the MCO. This creates a new manufacturing responsibility relationship to the plant specified by the MCO. There can be any number of sequences stacked, but only one sequence at a time is current. There can be any number of pending changes available. After adding the affected parts, you can modify the Make/Buy attribute using mass update or by enabling edit and updating the structure browser cells.

Actions/Toolbar Commands

If desired, click any of these commands from the page Actions menu or toolbar:

Action DescriptionFor More Information
Move PartsMove one or more selected part revisions from the MCO to a new or existing MCO.See Moving Parts to Another MCO.
Add ExistingAdd part revisions to the MCO.

Released parts can be added as affected items.

Unreleased parts can be added as affected items, as long as there is no MCO connected with a Requested Change value of "For Release."

See Adding Parts to an MCO
Enable Edit Edit make/buy values.See Edit Make/Buy.
Remove Part Remove the selected part revisions from the MCO if it is in the Create state. You can remove only manufacturing parts and those engineering parts that are undergoing a change in make/buy code without any change in the part revision. You cannot remove a new revision of an engineering part.

Edit Make/Buy

You can edit the Make/Buy attribute for MCOs in the Create state. For the first MBOM sequence for the plant, the Production Make/Buy attribute on the part revision is based on the value of the Production Make/Buy attribute on the Manufacturing Responsibility. If the Make/Buy value is not set on the Manufacturing Responsibility, the value is set from the part's Design Purchase attribute.

The following rules are applicable when changing the Make/Buy default value:

  • If the Design Purchase attribute on the part is set to "Design," the Production Make/Buy attribute on the Manufacturing Responsibility relationship is set to "Make" by default, but you can change it to "Buy."
  • If the Design Purchase attribute on the part is set to "Purchase," the Production Make/Buy attribute on the Manufacturing Responsibility relationship is set to "Buy" and cannot be changed to "Make."

For the subsequent sequences, the following rule applies:

  • The Make/Buy value is defined on the Manufacturing Responsibility relationship. When a new revision is created, the complete Manufacturing Responsibility relationship is replicated (copied) to the new revision only for current and pending manufacturing responsibilities. The history manufacturing responsibility is not carried over to the new revision.

  1. Click Enable Edit from the page toolbar of the MCO Affected Items page.
  2. Click the cell in the Make/Buy column that you want to edit.
  3. If the value is Make, you can click the down arrow and change it to Buy. If the value is Buy, you cannot change it.
