Viewing the Distribution of Elements in a Mesh

You can view the number of elements of each element type and their distribution in a color coded view of the mesh.

The elements in the mesh connect to one another by edges or nodes. The element connectivity indicates the element topology and the number of nodes. For example, the element type TE10 is a tetrahedral element with 10 nodes. The TE10 connectivity type corresponds to several element types, such as C3D10, CD10M, or C3D10H. The nomenclature of element types references the shape, number of nodes, and

Editing Quality Criteria
  1. From the Check section of the action bar, click Quality Analysis .

Tip: You can also right-click the mesh in the tree and select Analyze to analyze the mesh quality of a single mesh. Alternatively, you can select Quality Analysis from the context menu in the Mesh Part Manager.

The Quality Report panel appears and displays tabs containing information about the meshes in the finite element model representation.
  2. Select the Connectivity tab.
The Connectivity tab displays the number of analyzed meshes, mesh parts, nodes, number of elements, connectivity colors, and type of elements used.
  3. Optional: Click a Connectivity type to highlight the element connections of that type in the mesh.

Tip: To reframe the view of the model to specific mesh connections, right-click the cell in the connectivity row that corresponds to the Number of Elements column and select Reframe On.

  4. Optional: To customize the color of a specific mesh connection, click its color swatch in the table, and use the Color Chooser to specify a new connectivity color.
