  1. From the Check section of the action bar, click Quality Analysis .

Tip: You can also right-click the mesh in the tree and select Analyze to analyze the mesh quality of a single mesh. Alternatively, you can select Quality Analysis from the context menu in the Mesh Part Manager.

The Quality Report panel appears and displays tabs containing information about the meshes in the finite element model representation.
  2. Click Criteria Editor.
The Quality Criteria editor opens and, for each element type, shows you the available quality criteria that you can enable for your session. You can adjust the threshold values that determine if an element is bad, poor, or good.

The panel shows you the geometry and equations used to derive the criterion. For example, the app uses an equation involving the lengths of the sides in a three- or four-sided element to determine the aspect ratio.

  3. Optional: Select List only elements from the current mesh selection to limit the view of element types to those that exist in the current selection or present finite element model.

If you clear this option, the app lists the elements for the entire mesh.

  4. Select an Element type.
  5. Optional: To learn more about a criterion, click its row in the table to see the image and the formulas used.
  6. Optional: Activate a criterion by selecting the corresponding check box in the Active column.
Activated criteria appear in the Quality tab of the Quality Report panel.
  7. Click a cell in the Error or Warning column to modify the threshold values for a connection.

The element quality is bad if one of its quality criteria values is under or above (depending on the criterion) the Error value. The element quality is poor if one of its quality criteria values is under or above (depending on the criterion) the Warning value.

  8. Optional: To save the quality criteria so that they persist the next time you open the quality report, click Save .

Important: If you edited the quality criteria for imported criteria, such as Elfini Checks, the Quality Report prompts you to synchronize the current FEM with the initialization criteria stored in the database.

  9. Click OK to apply the criteria to the Quality Report.
