Viewing Revision and Version Information

You can view revision and version information about each document. Document objects are managed by revision. Files that are attached to these document objects are managed by version.

Required access roles: Author, Leader, Owner, Contributor, Reader

When a file that is attached to a document object, the object is updated and assigned a new version. You can update a document object with or without attached files.

If the document object is updated with multiple attached files, the latest version of each file is attached to the new revision of the document object. Each file can have a different version.

  1. Open a document. See Opening a Document from 3DEXPERIENCE
  2. From the toolbar ribbon, click Revisions / Versions tab.

    Or

    From the search results, right-click a document and select Revisions / Versions

    Or

    Pause over a smart link and select Revisions / Versions from the list.

    A Revisions/Versions tab appears containing the following details for each document.

    AttributesDescription

    Name

    The name of the object as stored in 3DEXPERIENCE.

    File Name

    The name of the file attached to the document.

    Title

    The title of the document.

    Revision

    The revision number of the document.

    Description

    The description of the document.

    State

    The state of the object in its life cycle as stored in 3DEXPERIENCE.

    Ver

    A list of all the file versions for the selected revision of a document.

    Originated

    The date of creation of the file

    Comments

    Comments about the revision and version of the document.

    Owner

    The name of the user who owns the document.

    Format

    The type of document based on its native Microsoft Office application. For example, doc, ppt, etc.

    File Size

    The size of the file

    _file Locker

    The name of the user who has locked the file, stopping other users from making changes to it.

Note: You can open a specific version. If you open a version that is not latest, a message appears alerting you that it is not the latest version.
