Working without Inserts

Sometimes, you need to create a Mold Base without Inserts, for example when you work with large parts such as car bumpers.

The stages in this procedure are as follows:

Create the Core Surface and Cavity Surface Assembly Features

If you are working without Inserts, you need to create the Core Surface and Cavity Surface Assembly Features.

  1. Open the Concept Mold Skeleton in a new tab.
  2. Go to Assembly Design and click Assembly Cut .
    1. Click OK in the dialog box that appears.
  3. Under Publications, select that of the Core Surface.
    1. For the Core Surface, orient the arrows along the Z axis.
    2. Click Reverse Direction if they are not.
    3. Click OK to create that Assembly Feature.
  4. Repeat the above steps for Cavity Surface, but orient the arrows in the opposite direction.

The Core Surface and Cavity Surface are created under the Assembly Features node.

Cut the Core Plate and the Cavity Plate

You need to have the Core Plate cut by the Core Surface, and the Cavity Plate cut by the Cavity Surface.

  1. Open the Mold Project in Mold Tooling Design, and make it the current object.
  2. To cut the Cavity Plate of the Mold Base by the Cavity Surface:
    1. From the Tooling Design or from the Mold Design section, click Cut Tooling Components .
    2. Select the Molded Part as the Cutting Part.
    3. Select the Assembly Features corresponding to the Cavity Surface.
    4. Select the Cavity Plate under the Injection Side of the Mold Base.
    5. Click OK, and update the Project Unit.
  3. Repeat this whole step for the Core Plate and the Core Surface.
