About Injection Points

Below are some key concepts of Injection Points.

Creating Injection Points and Gates
Default Position
  • When created on a surface, the position of the Injection Point is defined by
    • A point you select or pick on the surface.
    • Its direction, W-Axis, displayed as a green arrow and the pulling direction, V-Axis.

The W-Axis is the projection of the normal to the surface onto the plane perpendicular to the pulling direction.

  • When created on a curve, the position of the Injection Point is defined by
    • A point you select on the curve.
    • Its direction, X-Axis, displayed as a green arrow, and the pulling direction, Y-Axis.

The X-Axis is the projection of the tangent to the curve onto the plane perpendicular to the pulling direction.

Type of Gate
Core & Cavity Separation and Functional Plastic Parts propose only one type of Gate (Gate for Simulation), whereas Mold Tooling Design proposes all types.
Output
A SetOfGates node is created in the tree. It contains the Injection Point and the Gate information.

Simulation Gates are created in a specific SetOfGates. When requested:

  • A Simulation PartBody is created. It contains an assembly of the body selected as the reference geometry, and the SetOfGates.
  • Assembly Features are created, together with a Solid Functional Set.

Injection Points are editable.
