About Target Shapes
  1. From the Standard section of the action bar, click Model Prep.
The Target Shape dialog box appears.
  2. Select one of the following options, and then select the shape to use or the reference shape if you are creating an abstraction shape.
    • Select a Shape: Select an editable (nonfrozen) 3D shape or an abstraction shape.
    • Create Abstraction Shape: Select a Reference, and choose a part, product, or 3D shape.

If you create an abstraction shape with a 3D shape as the reference shape, the abstraction shape copies the geometry; therefore, you can edit the geometry without changing the original geometry. If you create an abstraction shape with a product as the reference, the abstraction shape created is an empty container. You must then copy one or more 3D shapes into it. For more information, see Model Assembly Design: Abstraction Shapes.

  3. Click OK.
    Simulation Model Preparation opens.
