Sketching

Sketching is often (but not necessarily) the first step in your design process, where you can express your ideas freely with rough curves. Unlike tracing, sketching does not create vector curves, so you can test and try at will. You can then use your rough curves as visual supports for tracing.

Before you begin: Select a drawing plane.
  1. From the Sketch section of the action bar, tap Sketch .
  2. Optional: Set your Sketch options as desired.
    OptionDescription
Opacity (%) Drag the slider or edit the value to define the opacity of the curve (as a percentage).
Thickness (mm) Drag the slider or edit the value to define the curve thickness.
Note: You can set your sketch options at any time while sketching.
  3. Start sketching.
  4. Set the radius to define the picking area.
For more information, see Selection Type.
  5. Shift + move the drawing plane.
The plane depth is modified. It lets you draw on different depths.
Tip: The Shift capability is available when you draw on planar supports.

Note: After you create a rough curve, you can right-tap the curve and modify the smoothing using a slider. The further the slider is to the right, the smoother the curve.
