Saving Projects in 3DEXPERIENCE

You can transfer the CAD data from Cadence OrCAD on your computer to 3DEXPERIENCE.

Before you begin: If not logged in, the Connector for Cadence OrCAD opens the login dialog box. For more information, see Logging Into 3DEXPERIENCE.
  1. In the project tree, right-click an item and select 3DEXPERIENCE > Save Project to 3DEXPERIENCE.

You can use the context menu to work with any listed item. For more information, see Project Scope Context Menu.

If you want to change any default settings, click Options. The available options are the same as listed in the Preferences section, but changing them here only affects this save action. For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE Settings.

To view the project files using a different view, select the view from the list and click . The columns that display in the table depend on the view you select. The key column is Status:

    Status Description
New The object does not exist in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Exists The object exists in 3DEXPERIENCE and has not been updated.
Modified The object has been updated in Cadence OrCAD.
Obsolete The design on your computer is older than the version in 3DEXPERIENCE.

  2. To choose a different workspace folder, click Save To and select the required workspace folder.

Your system might require all CAD objects to be saved in workspace folders. If you do not want to use the workspace folder shown in the Save To box for all CAD objects, right-click on each new CAD object and select 3DEPXERIENCE > Add to Workspace. Select the required folder and click OK..

For reference, this functionality is controlled by setting the ECADInteg-EnforceFolderOnSave attribute to TRUE in the Global Configuration Object.

If you do not select a workspace folder and this requirement is configured, the app displays an error message when you click Save.
  3. Enter text in the Save Comment box to describe the updates being saved.
  4. Select the check boxes for each object you want to save.
  5. To create a new revision, select an option in the Revise column. You can choose Next, or enter a specific revision level.
  6. If you want to close the Save Project to 3DEXPERIENCE dialog box after the files are saved, select the Close Dialog check box. If you do not select this check box, the dialog box remains open after the save completes.
  7. Choose a save option:

    • Save: Saves the selected files and checks them in.
    • Save & BOM: Saves the selected files, checks the files in, and opens the BOM Editor dialog box. For more information, see BOM Editor Dialog Box.

Your Administrator can disable BOM creation, or can make it mandatory. If it is mandatory but you do not want to create a BOM, you can close the BOM Editor window without proceeding.

Click Create to generate the BOM in 3DEXPERIENCE.
