3DEXPERIENCE Menu

The Connector for Cadence OrCAD adds a 3DEXPERIENCE menu to the OrCAD Connector menu.

Project Scope Context Menu

When you right-click an object in the project tree, the context menu includes a 3DEXPERIENCE submenu:

Save Project to 3DEXPERIENCE Opens the Save Project to 3DEXPERIENCE dialog box where can define how the app saves CAD objects in the project. Saving Projects in 3DEXPERIENCE
Manage Lifecycle Lets you promote, demote, lock, or unlock designs in the current project. Managing Design Object Lifecycles
Compare & Update from 3DEXPERIENCE Lets you update the selected object with the current version stored in 3DEXPERIENCE.

You cannot compare objects from a project; use this command from within a schematic to make comparisons.

CAD Object Context Menu

In dialog boxes that show lists of CAD objects, the context menu for an item in the search results lets you work with the found CAD object. You only see the menu items appropriate for the context.

Menu Item Description
Open Checks out the CAD object and all related CAD objects of the selection to the specified directory. If the object already exists in that directory, you are prompted to either overwrite that object, or select a different directory.
Open Selected Checks out the selected CAD object without checking out its hierarchy.
Lock Locks the CAD object in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Unlock Removes the lock from the CAD object.
Revise to NEXT When saving the project, sets the revise column to NEXT.
Revise to MANUAL When saving the project, opens the Revise to MANUAL dialog box. Enter the revision level you want to set and click OK.
Show Iterations Opens a list of iterations for the CAD object. You right-click an iteration to open it.
Remove CAD Model Deletes the CAD Model from 3DEXPERIENCE. The app prompts you to confirm.

In the Workspace View, you can either permanently delete the CAD Model, or just remove them from the folder.

Show Details Opens a window that lists details about the CAD object.

Click Explore to open the the CAD object in X-CAD Design Management in a browser window. If not already logged in, the login dialog box opens.

Save CAD Object Scope Context Menu

When saving a project, you can right-click an object in the project tree to access the context menu. The context menu includes a 3DEXPERIENCE submenu:

Menu Item Description
Lock Locks the CAD object in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Unlock Removes the lock from the CAD object.
Revise to NEXT When saving the project, sets the revise column to NEXT.
Revise to MANUAL When saving the project, opens the Revise to MANUAL dialog box. Enter the revision level you want to set and click OK.
Explore in 3DEXPERIENCE Opens the properties page in for the CAD object in X-CAD Design Management in a browser window. If not already logged in, the login dialog box opens.
Show Details Opens a window that lists details about the CAD object.

Click Explore to open the properties page in for the CAD object in X-CAD Design Management in a browser window. If not already logged in, the login dialog box opens.

Add to Workspace Opens the Workspace Folder Selection dialog box. Select the folder where you want to assign the CAD object and click OK.

You can assign a single CAD object to more than one workspace folder, but only one at a time.

You can also create a new workspace from this dialog box. For more information, see Managing a Workspace.

Workspace Context Menu

In dialog boxes that show lists of workspaces as the result of a search, the context menu for an item in the search results lets you work with a workspace. Right-click a workspace or a workspace folder to open the context menu.

Menu Option Description
Create Workspace Folder Creates a new folder within the workspace. For more information, see Managing a Workspace Folder.
Delete Workspace or Delete Workspace Folder Deletes the selected workspace or folder. You must confirm that you want to delete the folder.
Remove all CAD Models from Folder Deletes all CAD Models from the folder. You must confirm that you want to delete the CAD Models.

This command does not delete any CAD Models from any subfolders of the selected folder.

Move Folder Moves the selected folder to another workspace or a different parent folder. This menu item opens a dialog box listing the available workspaces and folders. Select the required parent and click OK.

The entire folder hierarchy, all subfolders, and CAD models, is moved to the new location.

Rename Renames the workspace or folder. After entering a new name, click OK.

BOM Scope Context Menu

Right-click an object in the BOM Editor dialog box to open the context menu.

Menu Item Description For More Information
Enable Component Enables a component for consideration in BOM creation.

You only see this menu item if the "Allow Disabling of EDA parts" setting in the BOM preferences is set to true.

3DEXPERIENCE BOM Management Preferences
Disable Component Removes a component from consideration in BOM creation.

You only see this menu item if the "Allow Disabling of EDA parts" setting in the BOM preferences is set to true.

3DEXPERIENCE BOM Management Preferences
Assign 3DEXPERIENCE Part Searches for a part in 3DEXPERIENCE to assign to the selected ECAD component. Searching for Parts
Add Existing From 3DEXPERIENCE For a selected assembly, adds parts that exist in 3DEXPERIENCE to the BOM. Searching for Parts
Remove Selected Removes the selected part from the extracted components. You can only remove user-added parts; you cannot remove EDA parts. -
Remove All Imported Remove all parts that were added using Import External Partlist. -
Import External Partlist For an assembly or subassembly, lets you import components for use in BOM creation. You cannot select a standard part as the parent of an imported partlist.

The components are listed in a text file generated from an external system such as an MCAD tool. The importer defines the format of the text file.

A CSV importer is available when the text file uses that format.

When you select this menu item, the app shows the list of configured mapping files defined in your Preferences. Select the mapping file, then use the file chooser to locate and open the required file.

3DEXPERIENCE BOM Management Preferences

System Tray

The system tray includes a 3DEXPERIENCE icon . You can double-click the icon to view your connection status. If connected to 3DEXPERIENCE, the icon shows a green lock () and the URL of the 3DSpace server. If you are not connected, the icons shows a red lock () and the message indicates that you are not connected.

Shutdown and Exit Shuts down the plug-in, closes the Connector for Altium Designer, and disconnects from the 3DSpace server. -
