Creating Threaded Holes

You can create a threaded hole by removing material surrounding the hole. All hole types can be threaded.

You can enter the values of your choice. You can even use standard or required values that are available in files.

Before you begin: To create the symbolic representation of threaded hole:
  • Create a pad.
  • Select the Display symbolic representation check box available at Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > 3D Modeling Core > Part Design tab, Thread/ Tap area.
  • From the View section of the action bar, click Shading with Material . For more information, see 3DExperience Native Apps: Native Apps Basics: Tree and 3D
  • To access the App Options panel, from the Tools section of the action bar, select App Options .

  1. From the Model or the Essentials section of the action bar, click Hole .
  2. Select the face on which you want to create the hole.


  3. In the Hole.x dialog box define the hole shape and enter the parameters of your choice.
  4. Click . The thread definition parameters are available.
  5. In the Thread standard box, you can choose among two default thread standards. You can also:

    • Set No Standard and enter required values.

    • Use your own standards contained in an xml file made available by the system administrator.

      Notes:
      • If you set standards files in both Data Setup and installation directory, the standard files set in Data Setup are given priority.
      • The standards set using Data Setup are available only in the online mode.
  6. If necessary, edit the thread depth then the hole depth if you need to modify the value you had previously set.

    Note: This value must not exceed the thread diameter value.

  7. From the Thread side list, select either Right-threaded or Left threaded option.

    The app displays the hole with a texture representing thread in the work area. An icon specific to this feature is displayed in the tree. It is a symbolic representation.

    Note: You can click 3DMaster query in the App Options panel and move the mouse pointer over a hole or thread in the work area or tree to view technological information in the tool tip.
