Creating Pipe/Tube References

You can create pipe/tube references to set up a catalog used in the Engineering Specification Capture & Reuse app.

Before you begin:
  • In Me > Preferences> Equipment > General > Select 3D Shape Representation for Route, select the type of representation.
  • The Data Setup must contain the tables that provide the list of values available for each attribute.
  1. Select Add > Content.
The New Content dialog box appears.
  2. Scroll down the list of types and expand Piping and Tubing Physical.
A list appears showing the types of components you can create.
  3. In the list, select Rigid Pipe or Flexible Pipe.
The Rigid Pipe or Flexible Pipe dialog box appears.
Important: To display the Rigid Pipe or Flexible Pipe dialog box, the Set attribute at creation option must be selected. For more information, see Create a New Object in the 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps guide.

In addition to the default attributes, the dialog box displays the following attributes whose resources have been set in Data Setup:

    • Standard
    • Nominal Size
    • Rating
    • End Style
    • Material

You also need to define the Instantiation Rule attribute. For more information, see Creation Mode of Piping Object.

  4. Fill in the fields.
  5. Click OK.
The new component is created and the Piping & Tubing 3D Part Design app opens.
  6. Modify the end style in the Data Information panel.

A default geometry is created. A portion of pipe/tube is created between two points.

  • Example for a rigid pipe/tube:

  • Example for a flexible pipe/tube:

Notes:
  • Ports on the pipe/tube are already created.
  • The flow of the two ports ends is IN/OUT.
Important:

With an Engineering Specification Data Setup, a route reference is an object and is stored in catalogs. So during the route reference creation or modification, the editable attributes are copied from the object reference of the catalog to the current route reference, including the customer attributes. The following commands are impacted:

  • Create or edit route
  • Resize
  • Split
  • Comply with specification
