Fill Rate Profiles
By default, the injectable material fills the part cavity at a constant rate during the filling step. You can customize this behavior by defining a fill rate profile that describes the fill rate as a function of other variables in your simulation. You can define three types of fill rate profiles:
- Time control
- Time control specifies the fill rate as a function of injection time. The time entered in the last row in your table determines the total fill time. The flow rate percentage values entered in the table are interpreted relative to each other. For example, if two times are defined with flow rate values of 10% and 30%, the flow rate at the second time will be three times as high as at the first time. The actual volumetric flow rates at each time are calculated to satisfy the relative profile and to fill the cavity in the total filling time.
- Volume control
- Volume control offers two methods to specify how the cavity fills. To emulate the fundamental inputs to an injection molding machine, you can define screw position versus screw speed. The app can use the screw diameter and the volume of the part to compute the equivalent percentage of filled cavity volume and volumetric flow rate data automatically. You can also enter the filled cavity volume and volumetric flow rate data directly. The tabular display of the profile includes all four of these columns, and it updates automatically each time you modify an entry.
