About Simulation Configuration
  1. From the Results section of the action bar, click Solver Options .
The Solver Options dialog box appears.
  2. Specify the following values for the Mold/Melt iterations:
    OptionDescription
Maximum Upper limit on the number of iterations before a solution is determined to have reached steady state.
Error tolerance Allowable difference in temperature between the start and end of a steady state cycle, expressed as a fraction of the starting temperature in Kelvin.
  3. Specify the Analysis method for the Mold temperature simulation:
    OptionDescription
    FEM-Linear Linear finite element method.
    FVM Finite volume method.
  4. Specify the Solver type for the Fill simulation:
    OptionDescription
Coupled Equations for flow velocity, temperature, and pressure are solved simultaneously.
Segregated Equations for flow velocity, temperature, and pressure are solved independently.
  5. Specify the VOF algorithm (Volume of Fluids method algorithm) for the Fill simulation:
    OptionDescription
Direct Most expensive and accurate method.
Indirect Fastest and least expensive method.
CICSAM Commonly substantially faster than the Direct method and more accurate than the Indirect method.
  6. Specify the Filled cell index, which indicates the volume fraction of polymer that must be contained in a mesh cell before the cell is considered "full" in the Fill simulation. Smaller values provide improved performance at the expense of accuracy.
  7. Specify the Solver type for the Pack simulation:
    OptionDescription
Coupled Equations for flow velocity, temperature, and pressure are solved simultaneously.
Segregated Equations for flow velocity, temperature, and pressure are solved independently.
  8. Click OK.
