About Sheet Connectors

When two components that need to be connected are either too far from each other or not in the same sheet, you can connect these components through sheet connectors.

This page discusses:

Definition

There are two types of sheet connectors:

  • On-sheet connectors: Used to connect components placed in the same diagram view
  • Off-sheet connectors: Used to connect components placed in different diagram views

Sheet symbols are always linked by pairs. In this case, it is called cross-references.

Tip: To identify more easily which sheet connectors are linked, text templates can also be linked with sheet connector representations. For more information about text templates definition on sheet connectors symbols, see Displaying Customized On/Off Sheet Connectors Symbols.

Sheet Connector Representation

In the Diagram Resources resource set of Data Setup, on-sheet and off-sheet connectors representations can be defined. These representations are retrieved and placed in the diagram view every time you create a sheet connector.

ResourceDescription
On Sheet Symbol for Same Sheet Context Defines an on-sheet symbol in the context of the same sheet.
Off Sheet Symbol for Different Sheets Context Defines an off-sheet symbol in the context of different sheets.

Example

This example below shows you a diagram view containing components connected with on-sheet and off-sheet connectors. Different representations and text templates are defined in Data Setup.
