Modifying Routes

You can extend a route that ends in space. You can also add segments to modify its path.

This task shows you how to:

Extend Pipes

You can extend a route that ends in space.

Before you begin: For this scenario, open an existing diagram view containing:
  • Two equipments
  • A pipe with one end connected to an equipment and the other that ends in space.
  1. Click the pipe and select Extend Route .

Note: When both ends of the pipe end in space, it selects the nearest end from your pointer.

A preview appears in red and follows your pointer.
  2. Click the second equipment.

The second end of the pipe is connected to the equipment.
    Notes:
    • The route can also end in space or as a sheet connector.
    • The line ID, if any, is automatically propagated from the object with a line ID to the object without a line ID. For more information, see About Line ID Propagation.

Modify Route Path

Before you begin: In an active diagram view, a route connects two equipments.
  1. Double-click the route.
Blue handles appear on the route.
  2. Select a segment handle and drag it to the required location.

Notes: When dragging the point to this new location, a preview appears to display the potential result.

The path of the route is modified. Three new segments are created to form an opened rectangle.
  3. Select a corner handle and drag it to the required location.

Note: You cannot drag a corner handle beyond the plane formed by the two segments around the manipulated point.

    • If a corner handle is dragged to the inside, two new parallels to the original segments are created.
    • If a corner handle is dragged to the outside, four new segments are created. The first and the last new points are automatically placed in the middle of both segments around the manipulated point. The pointer defines the location of the third point.
  4. Click to validate the new path of the route and exit the route edition mode.
