Creating a Line ID

You can create a line ID and set standard, nominal size, and pipe specification attributes.

Note: The maximum length of an attribute name is 40 characters.


Before you begin: Create a logical system.

  1. From the Edition section of the action bar, click Create Line ID .
  2. From the tree, select the logical reference.
    The Create Line ID dialog box appears.
  3. In the Line Type list, select Piping Line.
  4. In the Standard list, select SSTL.
  5. In the Nominal Size list, select 1in.
  6. In the Pipe Specification box, select SS150R.
  7. Optional: to define additional attributes, select Launch line ID properties after creation.
  8. Click OK to create the line ID.

    If you have selected Launch line ID properties after creation, the Properties dialog box appears for the definition of new attributes.

    The line ID with the specified attributes is created. The xxx_REF node is created under the Logical node in the tree and in the logical view.

    Tip: To delete the line ID, right-click the line ID object and select Delete.
    Note: If you have defined specifications objects in the Data Setup, you can:
    • Associate piping specifications to piping lines when creating a line ID or editing line ID properties.
    • Quickly check if the design is correct or not.

    In this case, the Standard attribute cannot be out-of-specification but the Nominal Size attribute can.
