Creating Piping /Electrical Port

You can create piping or electrical ports.

Create a Piping Port

You can define logical ports as piping ports. These logical ports act and behave like the piping components.

  1. Right-click the logical reference and select Create Logical Port.
  2. In the tree or in the diagram view, select the electrical component (Battery 12V).
  3. In the New content dialog box, expand the Piping and Tubing Logical tab and right-click Piping Logical Port.
  4. Optional: Select the Set attributes at creation option.

    Note: This option remains selected when creating the same type of component.

  5. Click Piping Logical Port.
  6. In the Piping Port dialog box:
    1. Enter a name.
    2. Select a direction for your piping port (In, Out, In/Out or No Direction).

    Note: For more information about the port's direction, seeCreating Logical Ports.

  7. Click OK.
    The System Type Association dialog box appears.
    Note: By default, the No System Type option is selected.
  8. Select one of the following options:
    • No System Type: to associate your logical port with no system type.
    • Associate Existing System Type: to associate your logical port with an existing system type.
    • Associate New System Type: to associate your logical port with a new system type.

  9. Click Finish to create the port.
    The piping port is created in the tree and appears in the diagram view.

Create an Electrical Port

You can create an electrical port on three types of piping components:

  • A piping logical valve
  • A piping logical miscellaneous
  • A piping logical instrument.

  1. Right-click the piping component reference and select Create Logical Port .
  2. In the tree or in the diagram view, select the electrical component.
  3. In the New content dialog box, expand the Electrical Logical tab and right-click one of the following ports:
    • Logical Connector Port
    • Logical Pin
    • Ground Pin
    • Logical Shell Connector Port
    • Logical Terminal
  4. Optional: Select the Set attributes at creation option.

    Note: This option remains selected when creating the same type of component.

  5. Click the required port.
  6. In the dialog box:
    1. Enter a name.
    2. Select a direction for your electrical port (In, Out, In/Out or No Direction).

    Note: For more information about the port's direction, see Creating Logical Ports.

  7. Click OK.
    The System Type Association dialog box appears.
    Note: The No System Type option is selected.
  8. Select one of the following options:
    • No System Type: to associate your logical port with no system type.
    • Associate Existing System Type: to associate your logical port with an existing system type.
    • Associate New System Type: to associate your logical port with a new system type.

  9. Click Finish to create the port and close the System Type Association dialog box.

The electrical port is created in the tree and appears in the diagram view. Through the insertion of the electrical port, the piping component has now an electrical extension.

Note: You can specify a new attribute named Nominal Power.
