Editing or Selecting a Failure Mode

You can edit or select a failure mode of a function to be analyzed in a causality relationship of a PRA table of your system. For a reference table, you can only select failure modes in causality relationships.

Before you begin: Select a function in the first cell of a causality relationship in a PRA table. For more information, see Selecting a Function.
  1. To edit a failure mode in a causality relationship, select a failure mode cell.
  2. To associate a failure mode:
    • For tables, do one of the following:
      • Select an existing failure mode in the list.
        Note:
        • This list proposes the failure modes pointing to the selected function.
        • A pattern matching search, which is also case-sensitive, is available to narrow down the list of failure modes.
      • Enter a name to create a new failure mode.
Note: If you select Confirm failure mode creation in the widget preferences, the Create Failure Mode for xxx dialog box enables you to:
        • Enter the failure mode name.
        • Select a customized type, if any.
For more information, see Customizing Preferences.
