Tree Appearance

The Tree Appearance options let you customize the way the tree is displayed.

This page discusses:

Tree Type

Classical Windows Style
Displays the tree in the conventional way. This option might be useful when working on solids and assemblies.

By default, this option is selected.

Structure
Displays the tree in a structure-oriented representation.

By default, this option is cleared.

Constructive Historic
Displays the tree in visual rather than linear representation.

If the whole of the tree is not displayed, you can enlarge the tab.

You can also click Fixed in the Tree Item Size area to reduce the length of tree item names.

The default number of characters is 8 but you can specify the number of your choice.

By default, this option is cleared.

Relational
Displays the tree in a relation-oriented representation.

This option might, for example, be useful when working on solids and surfaces.

By default, this option is cleared.

Tree Orientation

The tree orientation can be modified only when displaying the tree in Constructive Historic, or Relational mode.

Vertical
Displays all possible relations between the different items that go to make up the part.

By default, this option is selected.

Horizontal
Displays the tree with a horizontal orientation.

You can use this option for surface creation, for example.

You can also change the background colors through the Visualization tab.

Tip: If the tree prevents you from seeing the geometry, you can move the tree by first clicking the reference axis (the geometry is displayed in low highlighting mode), then dragging the tree to a new location using the middle mouse button.

By default, this option is cleared.

Tree Item Size

Defines the number of characters used for the names of the items displayed in the tree.

Text-dependent

Displays each item name as a whole.

By default, this option is selected.

Fixed

Makes the box on the right available to let you enter the fixed number of characters you want to display for item names. In that case, the object name is truncated and only the first and last characters are displayed.

By default, this option is cleared.

Tree Show/No Show

Tree Show/No Show mode
Lets you dim an item in the tree. Right-click the item in the tree, and then select Hide/Show.

Otherwise, you cannot gray out an item in the tree, and selecting Hide/Show has no effect.

When the size of the tree exceeds the size of the tab, a scrollbar appears: you can then move the tree and navigate using the scrollbar.

By default, this option is selected.

Subtree Position and Dimension

Same preferences for all subtree panels
Sets the same position and size for all subtree panels displayed in your current session through the Open Subtree command.

For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE Native AppsUser's Guide: Native Apps Basics: Tree and 3D Area: Managing Subtrees.

By default, this option is cleared.
