Design Range

Lets you specify the default range that will be applied to create 3D parts and products.

Note: The specified design range can be locked by the administrator to limit its usage to specific user profiles.

Normal range
The standard range that enables to create objects ranging from 0.001 mm to 1 km.

By default, this option is selected.

Small range
The small range enables to create objects ranging from 0.00001 mm to 0.1 km.
Large range
The large range enables to create objects ranging from 0.1 mm to 100 km.
Extra Large range
The extra large range enables to create objects ranging from 10 mm to 10,000 km.
Note: The selected range option is applied to any product or 3D part at the next run of the creation process and retained permanently as the default design range.

Description

Provides detailed information about the selected design range and when it should be used:

  • Normal range should be used to design regular parts.
  • Large range should be used in domains that require large working area such as Civil Engineering and Energy.

Characteristic Values

Gives the precision value and the working area dimensions in the defined units for the selected design range. In this example, the unit length has been changed to meters. Any modification to the units is automatically reflected in the Design Limits information areas. For more information, see Units.

Selected Design Range Precision Working Area
Normal range 10e-6 m 1,000 m
Large range 10e-4 m 100,000 m
Small range 10e-8 m 10 m
Extra large 10e-2 m 10,000,000 m

Recommendations

Provides recommendations about the selected design range according to the dimension information available for product structure elements opened in session.
