Create the Manufacturing Assembly Structure

In this step, you will create the Manufacturing Assembly structure by inserting predecessor assemblies.

  1. From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Manufacturing Assembly .

    Tip: The command remains active and lets you create several Manufacturing Assemblies.

  2. Click the root Manufacturing Assembly node.
    A Manufacturing Assembly node is created under the root Manufacturing Assembly node.

    In this scenario, the new Manufacturing Assembly node can be considered as being at the first-level in the tree.

  3. Click the first-level Manufacturing Assembly node twice.
    Two Manufacturing Assembly nodes are created on a second-level in the tree.
  4. Click one of the second-level Manufacturing Assembly nodes twice.
    Two Manufacturing Assembly nodes are created on a third-level in the tree.

    The item structure is complete for the scenario.

  5. Click Manufacturing Assembly again to deactivate the command.
  6. Right-click the Manufacturing Assembly node on the first-level and select Properties.
    The Properties dialog box appears.
  7. Enter an appropriate name (Manufacturing Assembly L1, for example) for the Manufacturing Assembly in the Reference and Instance tabs.
  8. In the same way, enter appropriate names for the other Manufacturing Assemblies.
