Colorizing Objects

When filtering objects with the 6WTags, you can colorize the results. For more information, see Filtering with 6WTags.

  1. Use the 6WTags to filter objects, and select the Colorize option.
  2. In the Layers panel available in 3D Compose, do one of the following:
    • To colorize only the objects, according to the 6WTags color value, select Leaves
Note: The 3D shapes (whether they are stand-alone or reusable representations) are colorized according to their parent.
    • To colorize the objects in 3D Compose according to the expand state of the structure in Product Structure Editor, select Tree expansion.
    • To colorize intermediate nodes, select one of the following:
      • Bottom Up: applies the color of the first object matching the same 6WTags found between this node and the root going upward.
      • Top Down: applies the color of the first object matching the same 6WTags found between the root and this node going downward.
Colors are applied according to the expand level of the structure in Product Structure Editor and are replicated in 3D Compose.
    Notes:
    • The noncolored parts are displayed in transparency so you can view the objects that may be hidden behind.
    • You can select the objects that remain in transparency.
    • When you select a 3D shape in 3D Compose, then its parent is selected in Product Structure Editor.
    • When you use the level selector in 3D Compose, you can only view the colors in the branch of the tree containing the selected object.
