Action tasks allow people to track tasks that need to be completed during the lifecycle for an item. If an item includes a Tasks page, the item owner can define tasks.
The Tasks page for some items let the item owner create tasks and assign them as needed. The task definition includes the instructions for completing the task and its due date.
The item that the task relates to is called the parent item. This item could be an object such as a change action or a complaint. Depending on the type of parent item, you can set the task to be blocking or non-blocking. A blocking task prevents the parent item from being promoted if the task has not been completed. The specific state where the blocking occurs also depends on the type of parent item.
When you create a task, the app creates a route to manage that task. All tasks created for the same parent item are added to a single route. However, if prior tasks and their associated route have all been completed, then creating a new task also creates a new route.
