Creating a CAPA

You can create a CAPA from an approved CAPA request. You can create a CAPA from multiple CAPA requests. You can also create a CAPA in the context of Data Source such as NCR, Complaint, Audit Finding, Adverse Event Report, and Equipment Service Request.


Before you begin:
  • The CAPA request must be in the Approved state.
  • The CAPA request must not be associated with any CAPA.
  • You must be a Project Lead.
  • You must be the owner of the selected CAPA requests.
  • The selected CAPA requests must be of the same CAPA type.
  • You must be on the CAPA Requests Page or the CAPA Request Properties page.

Managing CAPA Templates
  1. Perform any one of the following actions.
    The Create CAPA page appears.
  2. Enter the following details.
    SectionFieldDescription
    Type Click to select the type as or its subtype. When you select the subtype, the custom attributes that are added to the selected subtype are listed in the Custom Attributes section of the page.
    Note: You can create a subtype for the context object using the Data Model Customization app. For more information, see Installation and Setup | Customize | 3DEXPERIENCE Platform | 3DSpace Data Model | Data Model Customization | Specialize Data Model | Specialization Types | Creating, Editing and Deleting a Specialization Type.
    CAPA Type Select a CAPA object type. You can select Corrective or Preventive. This field appears only when you create a CAPA in the context of NCR.
    TitleType a title for the CAPA.
    Note: If you are creating a CAPA in the context of CAPA request, the title of the CAPA request is auto-populated in the title field of Create CAPA page.
    ObjectiveType the objective of the CAPA.
    Notes: The following are the notes related to the Objective field of a CAPA:
    • If you are creating a CAPA in the context of CAPA request, the problem statement of the CAPA request is auto-populated in the Objective field of Create CAPA page.
    • If you are creating a CAPA in the context of NCR or My Findings, the description of the NCR or My Findings is auto-populated in the Objective field of Create CAPA page.
    SeveritySelect a severity. You can select Critical, High, Medium, or Low.
    VisibilitySelect Company if you want the CAPA to be visible to all users in your organization. Select Members if you want the CAPA to be visible only to its members.
    ScheduleFromSelect a schedule type. You can select Start Date or Finish Date.
    DateSelect a date corresponding to the schedule type.
    Template OptionsCAPA TemplateSelect a CAPA template.
    Template QuestionsClick to view the list of questions defined in the template. Answer the questions and click Done. Phases and tasks are created corresponding to your answers and added to the CAPA.
    Copy Options
    Note: The fields in this section are not available if you select a template.
    Copy FromInstead of selecting a template, you can copy the contents from another CAPA. To do this, click , and in the page that appears, search, and select the required CAPA.
    Folder ContentsSelect a method to copy the folder contents. Available options are:
    • Copy: to copy all the contents.
    • Reference Existing: to link to the original content.
    • Ignore: to proceed without copying or linking to the content.
    TasksSelect a method to copy the tasks. Available options are:
    • Copy: to copy all the tasks.
    • Ignore: to proceed without copying any tasks.
    Task DeliverablesSelect a method to copy the task deliverables. Available options are:
    • Copy: to copy all the task deliverables.
    • Reference Existing: to connect the existing task deliverables.
    • Ignore: to proceed without copying or connecting to the task deliverables.
    Note: This field is available only if you select Copy in the Tasks field.
    Add Source as Related CAPATo add the selected CAPA to the Copy From field as a related CAPA, select Yes Otherwise, select No.
    Custom Attributes Type the additional information for the custom attributes that are selected as subtype of the CAPA.
  3. Click Done.
    The CAPA is created.
