- From the Wireframe section of the action bar, click Sketch from Scan
.
-
Select the mesh and click OK in the message box displaying that
there is at least one non-planar scan.
- The name of the mesh is displayed under Element.
becomes available.
- The free edges of the mesh are highlighted as scans in the work area.
- Constraints are proposed for these scans.
- The free edges are all labeled with a green marker,
meaning they will be processed.
- A first plane is proposed.

- Right-click a free edge and select the required item to de-select the free edges you do
not want to process.
The green marker turns
to a red one.
- Have a closer look at the free edges.
It may be difficult to recognize a basic primitive from it. Sketch from Scan computes a median plane (see previous picture)
and
projects the free edges on it, creating thus planar scans from which
primitives can be retrieved.
However you may want to edit this plane.
- To edit the plane:
- Click
in the dialog box or right-click the plane and select Edit plane.
The Plane dialog box appears.
- Either key-in the Origin and Normal coordinates.
- Or click Init with brush selection, and drag the cursor that has turned into a brush over the mesh.
Triangles are selected and turn red as you drag the brush over the mesh.

- Then click Init with plane selection.
A new median plane
is computed from those triangles.
- Or select an existing plane and click Init with plane selection.
The scans are projected onto the newly defined plane.
The
operating mode is now the same as for
Creating a Sketch from Scan (Legacy).
