DOCX Output Format

A DOCX output format is based on the .docx format (available for Word 2007 and upper versions). Similarly, the .docm format is supported for output formats.

Output Format Styles Correspondence

A report file generated in .docx contains the following associated tags:

Template Structures Corresponding styles in the generated report file
Section Title Heading N
Paragraph Body Text
Table Table
Image Image
URL URL
Rich text Rich text

Styles Definition

To properly display template structure elements and elements with customized styles in generated report files, you must define and employ the corresponding styles in the .docx output formats.

Tips:
  • To avoid styles display in a generated report file, use these styles between the %endheader and %begintrailer keywords.
  • To create a Number Lists or Bullet Lists list style in the output format and define the corresponding appearance settings, use the Define New List Style option of Word, otherwise these list styles will be created automatically when necessary.
  • To define a table style, you can use the New Table Style option of Word.

Generation Process

You can interact in the generation process to customize the look of your report file. The %endheader and %begintrailer keywords must be inserted in the .docx output formats.

The following process describes how Report Template Design generates .docx report files:

  • Pastes the output format document header in the report file
  • Replaces the text placed between %endheader and %begintrailer keywords by the generated content
  • Pastes the output format document end in the report file
