Checking Out a Requirement Specification Document

Use this procedure to locate and check out a specification document that you selected to check in with the imported captures.

Required responsibilities:

  • Baseline: Leader (when the object is in the Frozen state) or Author


Before you begin: Requirement Capture must be installed on the computer. For instructions, see Installing Requirement Capture for Microsoft Word. Open the document on a computer that has Requirement Capture installed.
Note: The Requirement Capture toolbar will only be available if the document is opened on a computer on which Requirement Capture is installed.
  1. View the list of specifications. See Requirement Specifications Page.
  2. For the required specification, click .

    A file window opens and lists the specification document checked in with the imported captures.

  3. In the Actions column, click (Checkout).

    A download window may open, depending on your web browser, showing the Open, Save, or Cancel options.

    1. Click Open.
    2. Select the download window, then click Done.

The checked-out specification document opens in Microsoft Word with all of the capture data present. You can use the Requirement Capture toolbar to import additional requirements and to check in a new updated version of the specification. The version number is incremented each time you check out then check in a specification document.
