Adding an Existing Requirement as a Sub Requirement

You can add existing requirements as sub requirements when you want to elaborate on another requirement. You can do this within the context of a requirement or a specification. When you add existing sub requirements, you take requirements already in Traceable Requirements Management and link them to the parent requirement.

Required responsibilities:

  • Baseline: Leader (when the object is in the Frozen state) or Author

Adding from a Requirement Page

Before you begin: View the list of requirements. See Requirements Page.
  1. Select a requirement.

    The requirement page opens showing the selected requirement and any child objects. The selected requirement is at the top of the structure.

  2. Select the requirement to which you want to add the sub requirement.
  3. Select Actions > Insert Existing > Sub Requirement.
  4. If necessary, refine the search criteria, then click Search . See About Searches.
  5. Select the requirements that you want to add as sub requirements.
  6. Click Submit.

Adding from a Specification Page

Before you begin: View the list of specifications. See Requirement Specifications Page.
  1. Select a specification name.

    The specification page opens showing any requirements and sub requirements of the selected specification. The selected specification is at the top of the structure.

  2. In the specification structure, select the requirement to which you want to add the sub requirement.
  3. Select Actions > Insert Existing > Sub Requirement.
  4. If necessary, refine the search criteria, then click Search . See About Searches.
  5. Select the requirement that you want to add as a sub requirement.
  6. Click Submit.
