Locking Specification Objects

You can lock a selected specification or specification object and all related business objects so that they cannot be edited or deleted by another user. Locked objects cannot be changed by another user until they are unlocked by the user that locked them.

Required access roles:

  • Required responsibilities:

    • Baseline: Leader (when the object is in the Frozen state) or Author

  • Baseline: Author or Leader (when the object is in the Frozen state)


Before you begin: View the specification. See Specification Detail Page.
  1. In the structure display or Structure View , select the specification object that you want to lock.
  2. From the toolbar, select Actions > Lock .
    The Lock for Modification page opens.
  3. Type any Comments about why you are locking the specification object from editing, or deletion by other users.
  4. To lock any sub requirements that are related to the selected object through a shared parent or as a child, select Yes for Lock Sub Requirements
  5. To lock any parameters that are related to the selected object, click Yes.
  6. Click Done.

The selected specification object and any related sub requirements, downstream requirements, and parameters that you opted to include are now locked from editing or deletion by any other user.
