Creating a Use Case

Use cases are created in the context of objects. Users with permission to create a specific type of object can create the use cases for those objects.

Required responsibilities:

  • Baseline: Leader (when the object is in the Frozen state) or Author


Before you begin:

View the list of use cases. See Use Cases Page.

  1. From the Actions menu, select Insert New.
  2. Enter these details for the new use case:

    FieldDescription
    TypeTo select a type other than the default, click to select the use case type.
    TitleType a short descriptive title for the use case.
    DescriptionClick in the text area to add rich content. For more information, see Editing Rich Content.
    OwnerBy default, the owner is the person who is creating the use case. Click to assign a different owner.
    NotesType any notes that may help others using this use case.
    Estimated DurationType the approximate number of days required for completing the use case.

  3. Do one of the following:
    • Click Create if you want to create multiple use cases in the current session. This stores the details for the newly-created use case in the database, then re-displays the Create Use Case page. The previously-entered values are retained for editing.
    • Click Create and Close to create the use case and close the Create Use Case page.
