Using UV Mapping for Material Textures

You can generate the required UV parameters before applying a material. To do so, you create a UV parameterization feature that computes UV coordinates by unfolding a 3D shape, and stores them on the feature.

About Material Textures
  1. From the Rendering Scene Design section of the action bar, click Surface Unwrap .
  2. In the geometry area, select a 3D shape.
  3. Click OK.
You switch to design mode and the last opened app allowing part editing opens. If no such app has been previously opened, then you switch to the default part editing app.
  4. In the UV Parameterization Definition dialog box, select the geometric element to cut the surface.

For more information about this dialog box, see Generative Shape Design User's Guide.

  5. Click OK.

UV coordinates are computed and you switch back to Rendering Scene Design. A new "UV Parameterization" feature is created in the tree under the unfolded 3D shape.

Note: You also switch back to the app when clicking Cancel.
  6. Select the unfolded 3D shape.
  7. From the Rendering Scene Design section of the action bar, click Apply Material .
  8. In the Mapping Type area, select Geometry UV that is now available.
