Before you begin installing

This chapter covers a single-host installation of OnePart on a 64-bit server running Microsoft Windows Server. For more details, see the OnePart Installation Guide: Advanced OnePart Installation

This page discusses:

Files

To install OnePartyou need the following files:

  • The OnePart installation kit – download it or copy it from the DVD.

  • A valid license file cvlicense.dat or .lic. You must enter a valid ASCII path to the license file. There is a 256 character limit.

To request a license, go to http://www.3ds.com/terms/software-keys/.

If you're a 3DEXPERIENCE platform customer and can't locate your license in the media, see the Knowledge base article.

If you purchased NETVIBES OnePart through a SOLIDWORKS value added reseller (VAR), please contact your VAR for licenses. After the installation, license information for the number of active and licensed users is available in the OnePart Help menu, About OnePart.

Permissions

To do this task

You need these permissions

(Windows only)

Launch the Windows command line (cmd.exe)

Administrator

Install OnePart

Administrator, plus:

Write permissions for the installation directory, OR

Create permissions on the installation directory if it doesn't already exist

Import files during set up

Read permission for the files to be imported. For details on filesystems “Permissions”, see in the OnePart Connectors Guide.

Hardware

The hardware recommendations for a production or test system depend on data volume and user traffic.

However, OnePart can be deployed on a workstation or small server for demo/training purposes when performance and availability are not requirements. In this case (less than 5,000 files, totaling less than 5GB), OnePart can usually be installed and run on a 8GB RAM, multi-core Windows machine with 20GB of available disk space (SSD preferred). Do not forget to turn off the anti-virus on the OnePart folder!

For more details, see the OnePart Installation Guide: Server recommendations.

Operating Systems

We highly recommend installing OnePart on a dedicated 64-bit Windows Server (X86_64) server running one of the following platforms:

  • Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Windows Server 2016

For more details, see the OnePart Installation Guide: Windows requirements.
