Windows installation procedures

This section outlines how to install OnePart using the wizard and how to perform the recommended procedures for faster disk performance.

Before getting started

For performance reasons, you must exclude your OnePart data directory (DATADIR) from Windows Indexed locations. We don’t want Windows to index the OnePart index.

Before you begin: Before you install, make sure to read the section Before you begin installing
  1. Install OnePart using the Setup Wizard. For complete details, see the OnePart Getting Started Guide: Installing OnePart using the Setup Wizard
  2. To improve performance on the Windows Server, follow the procedures below.

Exclude the data directory from Windows Indexed locations

For performance reasons, you must exclude your OnePart data directory (DATADIR) from Windows Indexed locations. We don’t want Windows to index the OnePart index.

Before you begin: If you have not installed the Windows Search Service on your server then you can skip this procedure.
  1. Open the Windows Explorer and type Control Panel\All Control Panel Items
  2. Select Indexing Options and click Modify.
  3. Expand the Local Disk (C:\) and navigate to your OnePart installation directory and uncheck your data directory folder, datadir, from the selected Indexed Locations.



  4. Click OK.

Turn off shadow copies for the data directory

This procedure may vary depending on your Windows version. For more details, see the Microsoft Windows help for how to “Enable shadow copies”.

Before you begin: You must turn off Shadow Copies on the volume that hosts your data directory.
  1. From the Window’s Computer folder, right-click on the drive and select Properties.
  2. In the Shadow Copies tab, select the drive where the data directory resides, and then click Disable.



  3. Click OK.
  4. You are now ready to set up OnePart.
