Inserting Include and Extend Relations

You can insert an include or an extend relation between two use cases.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Create a use case diagram view containing two a use cases.

Insert Include Relation



  1. Select the first use case.
  2. From the Use Case Diagram section of the action bar, click Include Creation .
    A connection with one end linked with the use case appears and follows your pointer.

  3. Select the included use case.
    The include relation is created. The arrow points toward the included use case.

Insert Extend Relation



  1. Select the first use case.
  2. From the Use Case Diagram section of the action bar, click Extend Creation .
    A connection with one end linked with the use case appears and follows your pointer.

  3. Select the extended use case.
    The extend relation is created. The arrow points toward the extended use case.
