Inserting Generalization Relation

You can insert a generalization relation between actors or use cases. It illustrates that one element called the child inherits the behavior and relationships of another element called the parent.


Before you begin: Create a use case diagram view containing two actors.

This scenario shows how to define a generalization relation between two actors. The steps remain the same for use cases.

  1. Select the child actor.
  2. From the Use Case Diagram section of the action bar, click Generalization Creation .
    A connection with one end linked with the actors appears and follows your pointer.
  3. Select the parent actor.

    The generalization relation is created. The arrow points toward the parent actor.
