Creating Implement Relations

You can create implement relations between two elements of the Requirement, Functional, Logical and Physical categories.

More precisely, you can create implement links for two purposes:

Between two references: To define the context or subcontext of your system (for example, a context can be the full vehicle, the motor only, the rotor only...). Such link is useful to open with completion a subsystem with the Smart Open in RFLP command. See Opening Requirements, Functions and Logical Components in RFLP.
Between two occurrences: To define, within a context, a relation between two elements. Such link indicates the purpose of an element, and ensures it fulfills a need.

This task shows you how to:

Define a Context (Reference-Reference Link)

Before you begin:

To create a reference-reference link between two subelements of your system, you must activate the advanced options for the Create Implement Relation command.
For this, select Advanced options for implement link creation from Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Systems Architecture > Functional & Logical Design > General. For more information see General.
To create a reference-reference link between the root nodes of your system, you can use the command without activating the advanced options.

From the Edition section of the action bar, select Create Implement Relation .
Note: You can also press ALT and drag one element to the other for intra and inter RFLP domain.
In the tree, select two elements.
Note: The selection of elements in two different RFLP Windows is available if the Advanced options for implement link creation is selected.
Optional: If you have selected two sublevels of your system, select Reference-reference implement link in the Implement Connection dialog box.
Warning:
This option appears only if the advanced mode is active.
If you do not select this option, the implement link is created between the two occurrences of the selected subelements.
In the Implement connection tab:
1. Enter a name (unique key in database).
2. Optional: Enter a description.

Create an Implement Relation (Occurrence-Occurrence Link)

Before you begin: To create an implement relation between two elements, a context must be defined in their parent level, with a reference-reference relation. In other words, two elements of their parent levels, or at least their tree roots, must be linked with a reference-reference implement linked.

Note that:

With the standard options, the root context is applied.
With the advanced options, a predefined context is applied.
To activate the advanced mode and predefine a context, in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Systems Architecture > Functional & Logical Design > General, follow this procedure:
1. Select Advanced options for implement link creation.
2. Choose the default type of context to be used for occurrence-occurrence implement links:
  - First context found in the parent tree: The reference-reference implement link found in the parent tree is used as context.
  - Root node context: The reference-reference implement link applied to the root node is used as context.

From the Edition section of the action bar, select Create Implement Relation .
Note: You can also press ALT and drag one element to the other. The two elements can be from different RFLP domains.
In the tree, select two occurrences.
Notes:
- The selection of elements in two different RFLP Windows is available if the Advanced options for implement link creation is selected.
- If you select a subelement in the structure, you select an occurrence of this element.
- If you select the root of the structure, you select the reference of this element.
The Implement Connection dialog box appears.
Optional: Select Occurrence-occurrence implement link in this context: (a context is proposed as per your default preferences).
Warning: This option appears only if the advanced mode is active.
In the Implement connection tab:
1. Enter a name (unique key in database).
2. Optional: Enter a description.
