Inserting a New Requirement, Sub Requirement, or Downstream Requirement

You can insert a new requirement beneath the Requirement node, an existing requirement specification, or an existing chapter. You can insert a new sub requirement or downstream requirement beneath an existing requirement.

  1. Right-click the requirement specification, chapter, or requirement where you want to insert the new requirement, and select Insert > Insert New Requirement.
    The New Content dialog box appears.

    For the purpose of this scenario, the Set attributes at creation option must be selected.

  2. In the New Content dialog box, select the type of requirement that you want to create.

  3. Enter these details for the new requirement:

    Field NameDescription
    TitleType a short descriptive title for the requirement.
    Requirement ClassificationFrom the drop-down list, select the classification for the requirement:
    • None
    • Functional
    • Non-Functional
    • Constraint
    Importance From the drop-down list, select the importance of this requirement:
    • Low
    • Medium
    • High
    • Very High
    • Least Important
    Priority From the drop-down list, select the priority for fulfilling this requirement:
    • Pre-assigned
    • Low
    • Medium
    • High
    • Urgent
    DifficultyFrom the drop-down list, select the estimated level of difficulty implementing this requirement:
    • High
    • Medium
    • Low
    Sponsoring CustomerType the name of the customer sponsoring this requirement.

  4. Click OK.
    The dialog box closes.

The new requirement is inserted beneath the selected location.
