Editing Defect Action Details

While working on a defect action, you may need to edit some of the fields, such as adding notes or related affected items, or promote it to fixed.

Required access roles:

  • App-specific: Defect Engineer
  • Baseline: Author

  1. Do one of the following:
    1. Open the defect action. See Defect Action Properties.
    2. From the Properties page toolbar, select Actions > Edit Details .

    Or:

    1. View any page that lists defect actions. See Defect Actions Page.
    2. Click in the row for the defect action.
  2. Edit any of these details:

    Field NameDescription
    Basics:
    Defect Action TitleA short title for the defect action.
    Defect Action DescriptionA more detailed description of the defect action.
    Defect Action TypeSelect the area from the drop-down list where the fix described by the defect action will be made:
    • Software
    • Hardware
    • Documentation
    • Test
    Due DateEnter the date by which this defect action should be completed.
    Ownership:
    SubscribersClick the ellipsis button to select people and member lists to be notified whenever a change is made to this defect action. For reference, the page also shows the list of people subscribed to the defect. These people are automatically copied on notifications about the defect action and do not need to be selected here.
    Defect Action Details:
    ResolutionSelect an option from the drop-down list that indicates how the defect action is resolved:
    • Code Change
    • Design Change
    • Documentation Change
    • N/A
    • Test Change
    • Waiver
    • Workaround
    CauseSelect an option from the drop-down list that indicates what caused the defect:
    • Always been there
    • Bad bug fix
    • Business Reason
    • Configuration
    • Context Handling
    • Other
    Where FoundSelect an option from the drop-down list that indicates where the defect was found:
    • Netlist
    • Hardware
    • Software
    • Other
    NotesEnter discussion notes about the defect action.

    Click Public Reply (anyone with access to the defect can view the notes) or Private Reply (only those users from your organization can view the notes).

  3. Click Done.
