Defect Actions Page

The Defect Actions page lists the defect actions and provides details about the defect and the associated defect actions.

Required access roles:

  • App-specific: Defect Engineer
  • Baseline: Leader, Author, Reader, or user with the Review and Approve (RWA) license.

To access this list, do any of the following:

  • From an open defect, in the navigation pane select Defect Actions.
  • From an open defect action, in the navigation pane select Dependents.
  • From an open model version, in the navigation pane select Defect Management, then select the Affecting Actions tab.
  • From an open model version, in the navigation pane select Defect Management, then select the Committed Actions tab.
  • From an open model, in the navigation pane select Defect Candidates.
  • From an open build, in the navigation pane select Build Satisfies Defect Actions.

Columns

The following columns are shown in all defect action lists:

Column NameDescription
Basics:
NameThe name of the defect action (usually an autoname). Click to open the defect action. See Defect Action Properties.
RevisionThe revision number of the defect action.
Defect Title The short title of the defect.
Defect Action TitleThe short title of the defect action.
StateThe current lifecycle state of the defect action.
  • Evaluate
  • Open
  • Test
  • Closed
  • Rejected
PriorityThe priority of the defect is a value from P0 (the highest priority) to P3 (the lowest priority).
SeverityThe severity of the defect is a value from S0 (the highest severity) to S3 (the lowest severity).
OwnerThe person responsible for the defect action. This is typically the same person as the owner of the defect.
Originated DateThe date the defect action was created.
OriginatorThe person who created the defect action. Click to open that person's information. See Collaboration and Approvals User's Guide: Person Properties.
Assigned Engineers:
Action AssigneeThe development person responsible for executing this defect action.
Quality AssigneeThe quality assurance person responsible for testing this defect action.
(Assignee)Click to open the Assign page. See Assigning a Defect Action.
Status:
Defect Action TypeThe type of defect action required:

  • Software
  • Hardware
  • Documentation
  • Test

Availability Indicates where the resolution for this defect will be made:

Availability OptionDescription
CandidateThe defect action is connected to a model as a candidate fix for a future release.
CommittedThe defect action is connected to a specific model version for fixing.
RejectedThe problem reported by the defect is not accepted to be fixed.
OrphanNot currently committed to a model version, assigned as a candidate to a model, or rejected.

Reason for RejectionIf the defect action was rejected, shows the reason.
ResolutionHow the defect action is resolved:
  • Code Change
  • Design Change
  • Documentation Change
  • N/A
  • Test Change
  • Workaround
  • Waiver
Model/Model Version If the availability is Candidate, shows the model. If the availability is Committed, shows the model version. Click to open the model or model version.
(Dependencies)If shows, click to open the list of dependent defect actions.
Reporting Information:
Reported AgainstThe model version revision in use when the defect was found. Click to open the model version.
Reporting OrganizationThe organization of the person who reported the defect. Click to open the organization.
(Edit)Click to open the Edit Details page for the defect action. See Editing Defect Action Details.
(New Window)Opens the defect action in a new web browser window. See Defect Action Properties.

The following actions and toolbar commands are available on the Committed Actions page or Affecting Actions page:

Mass Reject Demotes all selected defect actions to the Rejected state.

Rejecting a Defect
Delete Deletes all selected defect actions. Click OK to confirm.

Edit Toggles the page to edit mode. You can edit defect action information in the individual marked fields or use the Mass Update menu to update the information for a field in all defect actions at once.

Commit for Model Version Allows you to search for and select a model version where this defect action will be resolved. The defect action is removed from this page and added to the Defects Committed page for the current model version. -
