Editing a DesignSync Server

You can edit the properties for a DesignSync server. You cannot change the governed/governing DesignSync servers or associated stores on this page.

If you need to change DesignSync server relationships, use the Governed Servers page for the master server. If you need to change the associated stores, use the Stores page for the server.

Required access roles:

  • App-specific: Defect Engineer
  • Baseline: Administrator or Leader

  1. To access the edit tool from the list of servers:

    1. View the list of DesignSync servers. See DesignSync Servers Page.
    2. Click in the row for the DesignSync server you want to edit.

    To access the edit tool from the Properties page of the server:

    1. Open the DesignSync server. See Opening a DesignSync Server.
    2. Click Edit Details .

  2. Edit any of these fields as needed:

    Field NameDescription
    DescriptionEnter a brief description that provides general information about the purpose of the DesignSync server. It can be used to point out differences between servers to users.
    OwnerType the username or click to select the person responsible for the DesignSync Server.
    URLEnter the string that defines the URL of the DesignSync Server. For example: sync://src.companyname.com:8888.
    Development PathEnter the default path on the DesignSync server under which developments will be placed.
    Develoment Area RootEnter the default path that defines the relative path to the directory that will hold all the development areas that users create on this server.
    UNIX GroupEnter the UNIX group that provides group ownership for the development file hierarchy on the server.
    OrganizationClick to select an organization that the DesignSync server belongs to (such as a plant, department, and so on).
    UsernameEnter the username on the DesignSync server. This user must be set up with the SwitchUser privilege in the access control file in DesignSync.
    PasswordEnter the password that corresponds to the above user.

  3. Click Done.

If you changed the URL, the system automatically updates the URL for all stores associated with this DesignSync server.
