Managing Instantiation Options

When the Simulation Analyst uses the experience to create a new simulation process or activity, Process Composer applies the instantiation options during instantiation.

Context:

The following instantiation options apply to the simulation process or simulation activity when the experience is instantiated:

  • Title, Description, Policy, and Access
  • Attributes and their values
  • Parameters and their values
  • Referenced content (documents or VPM data)
  • Execution options

The Simulation Methods Developer can modify the instantiation options, and Process Composer applies the modified options to any simulation processes or simulation activities that are subsequently instantiated from the experience. In addition, the Simulation Methods Developer can determine whether the Simulation Analyst can see the option and/or modify its value. In particular, the Simulation Analyst may want to modify the value of some attributes and parameters before executing a simulation process.

The Simulation Methods Developer can choose one of the following view/modify settings for an instantiation option:

  • Hide the option from the user during instantiation.
  • Show the option to the user as read-only during instantiation.
  • Allow the user to edit the option during instantiation.
  • Force the user to enter a value during instantiation.

  1. From the search menu in the Top Bar, search for your available simulation experiences.
  2. From the list that appears, select the simulation experience that you want to modify.
The selected simulation experience appears in the navigation pane and the table page.
  3. From the navigation pane, select Instantiation Options.
Process Composer displays the Instantiation Options page.
  4. From the table page toolbar, select Edit .
  5. Modify any of the values if desired.
  6. Choose a Display Mode option to determine whether the Simulation Analyst can see the option and/or modify its value, and whether the Simulation Analyst must provide a value during instantiation.
  7. If the Display Mode is hidden or read-only, you can toggle on Editable in PS to allow a user to edit the value of the option after they have instantiated the experience in Performance Study.
  8. Click Done to save your changes.
