Controlling the Instantiation Options in Performance Study

A Simulation Methods Developer can use settings in Process Composer that control how an instantiation option behaves in Performance Study.

As described in About Experiences, the Simulation Methods Developer can choose one of the following display modes for an instantiation option in Performance Study:

  • Hidden
  • Read-only
  • Editable
  • Required

The same display modes apply to the instantiation option when the Simulation Analyst is instantiating the experience in Performance Study. However, the Simulation Methods Developer can use the Editable in PS setting to control the behavior of the option after the Simulation Analyst creates the object by instantiating the experience.

The following table describes the combination of the selected display mode and the Editable in PS setting and the resulting behavior in Performance Study:

Display Mode Editable in PS Setting Instantiating in PS Instantiated Object in PS
Hidden True Hidden Editable
False Hidden Hidden
Read-Only True Read-Only Editable
False Read-Only Read-Only
Editable True Editable Editable
N/A N/A N/A
Required True Required Required
N/A N/A N/A

For example, if the Simulation Methods Developer sets the Display Mode to Hidden and the Editable in PS setting to True for the Title instantiation option, the title will be hidden from the experience in Performance Study; however, the Simulation Analyst will still be able to edit the title of the object instantiated from the experience. The intent is to allow the Simulation Methods Developer to minimize the number of options that are exposed to the Simulation Analyst during instantiation, but still provide the Simulation Analyst with the flexibility to edit the value of an option that was hidden from the experience.
