Creating a Sketched Opening

You can create an opening by sketching the contour.


Before you begin: Open the structure containing panels and plates to create openings on it.
  1. From the Detail section of the action bar, click Opening on Panel and Plate .
    The Opening dialog box appears.
  2. In the Applied on box, select a panel or a plate on which you want to create the opening.
  3. Click Create Sketch Opening .
  4. In the Sketch Opening dialog box, define the sketch opening:
    1. In the Category list, select the opening type.
    2. Optional: Clear the Automatic check box and enter the required name in the Name box.

      Note: If a naming action rule is set in Rules Catalog or Rules Library in Data Setup, and the Automatic check box is selected, the structural object is named automatically according to naming action rule. For more information, see Action Rule for Naming.

    3. Click to sketch the opening contour.


      Note: The name of the profile appears in the Profile box automatically once the opening contour is sketched.
    4. Select the required mode.
    5. From the Extrusion list, select the extrusion type: UpToLast or Limit1/Limit2.

      The extrusion must intersect the support of the plate/split plate.

    6. Click Apply.
      The inputs are applied.
    7. Click OK.
    The sketched opening parameters are defined. The opening is created.

Important:
  • You can edit or delete the opening by selecting the required row and clicking Edit Opening and Delete Opening , respectively. To edit an opening, you can also select the opening in the work area and click Opening on the context toolbar.
  • You can copy an opening from an object (panel, plate, or profile) to another using the Advanced Copy. To do so, select the reference planes of the source and destination objects, and select the opening to be copy. Perform the reroute analysis and change the Applied on object from the source object to the destination object. The opening is copied. For more information, see reroute analysis.
