The copy and paste capability enables you to duplicate the data, but it fails in carrying out
the complex copy and pasting operation where multiple specification changes happen.
Using Advanced Copy, you can move or copy the structural elements
successfully along the reference planes.
The objects are copied or moved taking into account the following:
- The position information of the original object and its parent products
- The position information of the target parent products
- Reference planes:
- The source and destination planes in case of the
Translate mode
- The symmetry plane in case of the Symmetry
mode
The following principles show how the translation and symmetry are performed:
Principle for Advanced Copy Command in Translation mode
Translation is the displacement of an element from one position to
another position.
An element x has several inputs like Plane Xn (plane number n in the
family X) and Plane Ym. If the plane Xn is translated by z planes, it is
possible to change or replace the input of the element x to reflect the
transformation and obtain the following:

The specification for each element changes while performing
translation operation.
- If the specification of a plate is a reference plane that belongs
to the same selection set along which it is translated, the new specification
are rerouted.
- If the specification does not belong to the selection set along
which it is translated, the specifications are not changed and the object is
not modified.
Principle for Advanced Copy in Symmetry mode
Symmetry is an operation in which an element is transformed by mirror
symmetry with respect to a reference plane. In the
Symmetry mode, each input of an element x gets
replaced by its symmetrical part.
For example, LONG.1 becomes LONG.-1, if the symmetry plane is the
CenterLine plane.
Move or Copy Elements
Select one or more structure objects to be moved or copied. The
following columns are updated:
- Element Name: Displays a list of the
selected object.
- Type: Displays the type of the selected
object.
- Status: Displays if the selected object is
compatible to be moved or not.
If the status is:
- OK: The selected objects can be moved.
- Same: The selected object is same and
the inputs are not modified.
- Out of Bound: The selected object is
using a specification for which no reference plane is available. It indicates
that selected input is incorrect and needs to be changed.
- GSD Objects Found: The selected object
is using wireframe object (plane, line, sketch or 3D axis) as input. If the
Automatic Copy and Reroute of GSD Objects
is cleared, you need to manually reroute the wireframe object.
- Error: The object after advanced copy or
move is in error and needs to be rerouted.
To analyze the rerouting of the elements, right-click and select
Reroute Analysis. The
Reroute Analysis dialog box appears.
Reroute Status
Displays the computed status where each input will move. The different
statuses are:
- Automatic: the current element is
automatically rerouted.
- In Selection: the current element is
selected and will be translated.
- Same: the same element is used for copied
objects.
- GSD Automatic: the current element is a
wireframe object and the
Automatic Copy and Reroute of GSD Objects
check box is selected.
- GSD Manual: the current element is a
wireframe object and the
Automatic Copy and Reroute of GSD Objects
check box is cleared. To manually reroute this object, right-click the
GSD Object row and select
Copy GSD Element.
- Manual: the current input is changed to the
proposed input.
The
Proposed column displays the manually selected
input that replaces the current input while performing advanced copy or move.
To define a proposed input, click in the
Proposed column in the required row and select
the input in the
3D area.
The selected input appears in the
Proposed column and the status is changed to
Manual.
Global Reroute: Indicates whether the input is
rerouted locally or globally. Only if the current input is used in multiple
objects that are selected for advanced copy, the
Global Reroute check box is available.
Notes:
- If the current input is used in multiple objects, you can replace
it with the proposed input by selecting the
Global Reroute check box. By default, the
Global Reroute check box is selected.
- If you want to replace the current input with the proposed input
for the selected element, clear the
Global Reroute box.
- To reset the proposed input, right-click in the
Proposed column and select
Reset.
