Setting up the Environment

This task shows you how to set up the environment for Structure Design. You need to assign resources in the Data Setup and customize preferences.

Import Materials

You need to import materials to the database to make them available.

  1. From the top bar, select Add > Import > 3DXML.
    The Import 3D XML dialog box appears.
  2. Click [...] to choose a folder.
  3. Select the required path and click Select Folder.
    The Import 3D XML dialog box displays the .3dxml files in the selected folder.
  4. Select the required .3dxml file and click OK.
    The materials are imported.
    Note: You can create materials in the session. For more information, see Material Definition User's Guide: Creating Materials.

Import Sections

You need to import the sections to the database to make them available.

  1. From the top bar, select Add > Import > 3DXML.
    The Import 3D XML dialog box appears.
  2. Click [...] to choose a folder.
  3. Select the required path and click Select Folder.
    The Import 3D XML dialog box displays the .3dxml files in the selected folder.
  4. Select the required .3dxml file and click OK.
    The sections are imported.
    Note: You can create sections and store them in the database. For more information, see Managing Sections.

Set your Environment

You can assign resources in Data Setup and set required options in Me > Preferences.

  1. Assign the resources in Common Geometry Resource, Structure Resources, and Structure Library Resources.
  2. Associate these resources with projects.
  3. Select Share > Save > Save with Options to save the changes.
    The resources are assigned and saved.
  4. Select Me > Preferences.
    The Preferences dialog box appears.
  5. Set up the required options in dialog box as mentioned in .

The environment is set for the Structure Design app.
